The 28th Laugavegur Ultra Marathon was held on Saturday the 13th of July, 2024. Conditions were challenging at times, with high winds and even the occasional sandstorm. Runners crossed the finish line tired but extremely happy. Over 500 runners made their way from Landmannalaugar at 9am over the Laugavegur trail and ended up in Húsadalur, where a large number of spectators cheered them on for the final few steps of the run.
Andrea Kolbeinsdóttir won in the female category for the fourth time in a row with the time 04:33:21, a quite remarkable achievement. In second place in the female category was Halldóra Huld Ingvarsdóttir with the time 04:55:25 and behind her in third place was Íris Anna Skúladóttir with the time 05:06:00.
In the men´s catgory, it was Þorsteinn Roy Jóhannsson who was the winner for the first time with the time 04:13:06, a great achievement. In second place was Sigurjón Ernir Sturluson with the time 04:20:34 and in third place was Grétar Örn Guðmundsson with the time 04:31:27.
An award ceremony was held after the race where awards were given out for the first three places in the female and male category, along with the age group awards.
